I shall leave this post as summarized and as short as possible for all i care is that people all around the corner are barking like mad dogs. It is nothing new that Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) lately has caused so much stir between both country / society across the causeway.

LKY, in his new 400-page book title, “One Man’s View of the World”, he noted that Malaysia’s “race-based politics place the country at a disadvantage” and was “voluntarily shrinking the talent pool”.

It was mentioned in the book that in the last 40 over years, the ratio of Chinese and Indian Malaysians dropped significantly. In 1970, the Chinese made up 35.6 per cent of the population- the number shrunk to 24.6 per cent in 2010. The Indian population fell from 10.8 to 7.3 over the same period. (I think we see the same decrease in minority population here in Singapore over the same period by the way – maybe people just felt like exchanging places?).

Lee believes that in the competition for skills and brainpower, Malaysia is “losing ground” and “giving other countries a head start”, he added.

So in essence, he is suggesting that Malaysia being dominantly Malays are not as capable to Singapore who are dominantly Chinese, suggesting that skills and brainpower in Singapore a dominantly contributed by majority race in that statement. Noting that i left Indian out in my comparison though. I strongly think that in those statements LKY made, his logic is all about the dominant race = brainpower / skills since logically saying, the minority wont elevate much differences statistically – at least to his argument.

Let me remind you the sour LKY [Wiki Link here]. Oh, i remember exactly how Singapore continously depend on US, Germans and Japanese for innovations before the Chinese (typically to copy and do mass production as usual) and none of that significantly defends that argument that local majority Chinese has the brainpower / skills without the foreign intervention in the course of building its economy. So, what skills and brainpower are you talking about? Aren’t Singaporeans ourselves being trained by foreigners? What makes any dominant race in this region so special that they are classified as the skilled and brainpower of anything in the first place?

So you might argue that LKY is referring to Malaysia in his statement and it does not, nor it reflect the Malays in Singapore. Think again. This kind of stereotyping will spread like wild fire (especially influential figure like LKY) and WILL DEFINITELY affect you in reality – applying jobs, getting recognition for your efforts, getting good positions, being socially respected as a community, etc. His words and expressions will bring some weight and so far i think LKY has selfishly done so.

I shall leave all screenshot below to your own opinion. So far, opportunities here haven’t been fair too – things like “speak mandarin only candidate” has been ONE OF MANY debatable issues that made silent – things that the DOMINANT / MAJORITY race oppressed the MINORITY ones (in our case, the Malays, Indians, Eurasians)! – isn’t that an act ONE RACE POLICY as well by NOT DOING ANYTHING significant about it?. But i am a true born Singaporean. I won’t give way to such bullish acts either. This country has vowed in its pledge that it will be “regardless of races, language or religion.” in the name of equality and democracy. I am fighting my next vote for 2016 for true democracy and not authoritarian rule any more.
